  • A mountain bike style (not full faced), properly fitting helmet that is no more than 5 years old. Helmets equipped with MIPS technology are strongly recommended but not required as the technology is proven to reduce the risk of concussions. Our team is sponsored by SMITH and generally offers a deep discount to our riders during pre-season.

  • Full-finger, well-fitting gloves. You will have an option to purchase branded team gloves when ordering your uniform if you don’t already have a preferred glove.

  • Sun glasses are generally all that we’re looking for here. MTB specific glasses can help to cut down on dust and debris but are not required.

  • Flat-soled shoes with no holes and good coverage. Mountain bike specific shoes exist for both flat and clipless pedals, but you’ll find most kids riding with old tennis shoes.

  • All riders, even those with tubeless setups must carry 2 tubes with them at all practices. Ensure the size of the tubes match the size of the wheel on your bike.

  • Any cheap lever will do. Just something to get the job done.

  • Any bike hand pump that fits the stem type of your bike will work.

  • Simple tube patch kit should be carried with you.

  • A multi-tool is a compact tool system that contains most of the tools needed for on-trail repairs of your mountain bike. Ideally this will have a chain breaker on it so that you don’t have to carry one separately.

  • There are 3 main sizes of quick links. Please get the right size for your bike. To do this count the number of chain rings on your rear cassette. If you have 12, you need a 12-speed quick link, 11 you need a 11-speed quick link, 6-10 and you need a 6-10 size link.

  • You need to have a hydration pack that will hold 70-100oz of water. This can be fanny pack or back pack style. Many of our practices will be extremely hot and water is absolutely crucial for the safety of the riders.

    • Caffeine (NICA explicitly bans caffeine in any form as well as any other performance enhancing substance)

    • Headphones

    • eBikes for Students

    • Sandals

    • Full-face helmets (unless medically required)
